The Unemployed Workers of the Gaza Strip
Monday, June 24

I enclose the translation of two documents of the Palestinian People's Party (PPP) concerning the struggle of unemployed workers in the Gaza Strip.
They hold a permanent picket in front of the local administration office in Khan Younis for an hour every day, stopping the traffic on the main road passing in front of the administrative office.
Greetings
Maurizio Cucci (White Berets)

The Palestinian People's Party (PPP) together with the workers of the Gaza Strip

The workers have set up this picket because they want an increase in their unemployment benefit and this action is of help to them. We, members of the PPP wish to help and support these workers.
The workers are the most important persons in Palestine and it is our duty to listen to their demands, because the State of Israel no longer accepts them to work in its territory.
The first priority is to help the Palestinian workers. These workers who demonstrate in front of the Local Authority Office at Khan Younis are doing this as part of their struggle.
We of the PPP regard them as valiant workers who struggle for their rights and also for the Intifada.
We want all the workers of the world to know that the State of Israel does not grant us permission to go to work in their territory.
The PPP has asked the Palestinian Authority to give people financial help towards buying the food they need to live because the State of Israel is creating problems for the whole population.
The PPP asks all the Palestinian parties and also the NGOs to participate in a general strike and announce it on TV and radio, so that everyone may know the problems of the workers.
