Besides those, the program receives important support from Ministry of the Environment (MMA) / National Fund for the Environment (FNMA), Interamerican Development Bank (IDB), European Union (EU), State Government of Bahia / SEPLANTEC / CONDER. TAMAR Program is internationally recognized for its pioneering action and creativity. It complies with the guidelines of the International Union for Conservation of Nature - IUCN and the Marine Turtle Specialist Group (MTSG/SSC/IUCN).
But that is not enough. In order to continue its work, the TAMAR Program urgently needs much more. That is why the Program is now striving for self-sufficiency, a concept which is perfectly in tune with its reality and philosophy, and takes into account that international funding for environmental conservation has clearly been shrinking. TAMAR will now explore other means of direct or indirect fund raising, including ecotourism and the merchandising of products and services.
