BUKAVU: MEN IN UNIFORM SHOOT PARISH PRIEST OF MURHESA
Father Gustave Amuri, parish priest of Murhesa (Bukavu, South Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo), was critically wounded on Monday by a group of "men in uniform".
According to first reports released by our MISNA sources (who will remain anonymous), 'the diocesan priest has two bullet wounds and is in critical condition'.
He was to be hospitalised in Nairobi (Kenya), though they are still waiting for authorisation for his transport.
All the personnel of the Murhesa parish fled.
Other MISNA sources are attending ulterior details in regard. Bukavu, administrative centre of South Kivu, has been controlled by Rwandan troops since the first days of the war, which began on the 2nd of August 1998.
Kigali troops formally operative under the aegis of the RCD (Congolese Rally for Democracy), the anti-President Laurent Desire' Kabila forces.
