Kadhafi Meets Kabila, Museveni
April 18, 1999
Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - Libyan leader, Col. Moammar Kadhafi, Saturday met with
Presidents Laurent Kabila of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Yoweri
Museveni of Uganda in the Libyan northern town of Syrte, the official JANA news
agency reported Sunday.
It said Kadhafi separately received Kabila and Museveni before their meeting which was also attended by Gen. Abou Bakr Younes Jaber, member of the historic command of the Libyan revolution, and Dr Ali Triki, deputy secretary for African affairs at the Libyan general popular committee (ministry) of external relations and international cooperation.
The Great Lakes crisis was no doubt on the meeting's agenda which JANA did not specify. Kabila accuses Uganda and Rwanda of being the main supporters of the rebellion in the eastern part of Congo.
The two presidents held a similar meeting in December 1998 with Kadhafi in his attempt to find a solution to the crisis in the Great Lakes.
