BAGUNÇAÇO is the inspiration and organizing force for other tin can bands, including BANDA EXPLODE (female), BANDA MIRIM DE BATE-ESTACA, LIBERTAÇÃO DOS ALAGADOS, BEIJA-FLOR, SEDUZ (female), TROVÃO, IMPÉRIO, RAIO SOLAR, AXÉ FUNK. From an area of extreme poverty, at the margins of all of society’s rights and benefits, these youth, using their tremendous creative energy, give lessons in environmental education, in education for life, in transforming reality. They transform trash into art and music, reclaiming the value of what society has thrown away. The work of the group has gained the attention of the national and international press and was even the theme of an award-wining video.
