BAGUNÇAÇO NEWS

·· RATO ISLAND PROJECT - as an ecological movement, BAGUNÇAÇO has taken on the cause of preserving Rato Island, a tiny island located in the Alagados community. In June of 1995, a CIA BAGUNÇAÇO, together with the other tin can bands, camped on the island for 3 days in protest of the ecological devastation of the area.

· BAGUNBUZÚ -With the goal recruiting more sympathizers to the movement, BAGUNÇAÇO launched the BAGUNBUZÙ project, which has a bus fully adapted for the bands to shows that was donated by a local businessman. This bus allows the bands to spread their energy and happiness throughout the city. ·

· CARNAVAL BLOCK BAGUNÇAÇO/CEDECA - CIA ECO PERCUSSIVA BAGUNÇAÇO paraded 1887 and 1998 along the official route during Salvador’s famous Carnaval celebrations accompanied by more than a thousand children and adolescents who benefit from the services of local social welfare organizations. Along the route, the Carnaval block promoted the Campaign Against Child Sexual Exploitation.

· BAGUNFEST’LATAS (TIN CAN FESTIVAL) Each year the group organizes a festival of tin can bands to commemorate the anniversary of its creation, where all of the bands affiliated with the group have the opportunity to play. · The band has played in the National Theater in Brasília, EXPRESSO 2001 Project , FEMADUM 93, Caminhada AXÉ, and shows of the famous band TIMBALADA, as well as religious festivals and street fairs. · BAGUNÇAÇO was the theme of a video, created by VIDEONUCLEOBAHIA, which won at the most recent Bahia Film Festival (Jornada de Cinema da Bahia) in January 1996. It was also the subject of a video documentary produced by TV OAF (Austria) and another by BBC London, both in 1993. MTV/Brasil produced a videoclip of the band which was shown for a week. Lately the band has made a videoclip with Daniela Mercury, to be used during her tour to France 1998.
